Residents of southwest Salt Lake County have a new regional park to enjoy in Bluffdale.

Wardle Fields Regional Park, phase one, officially opened Wednesday. The 41-acre park — to be doubled in size later — features a destination playground with two racing zip lines, a 300-foot long bouldering wall, climbing net pyramid, swing and play equipment and a 25-foot watchtower with slides. It also has a mountain stream water play splash pad with geysers and waterfall, as well as tot splash pads.

The park has a three-quarter-mile walking path through more than 300 trees, 16 lighted pickle ball courts, two full-size multipurpose fields, two large pavilions and a full-size basketball court with six standards.

Located at approximately 2700 W. 14010 South, the regional park was one of three created with $47 million from a bond authorized by county voters in 2012. Salt Lake County purchased the land in Bluffdale from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 2008 with proceeds from a separate open-space bond.
